Creating this necklace was such a rich pleasure. It all started with this magnificent pendant made using the same techniques that were used during the Mugal Empire. There is so much to tell about this necklace.
The Mughals were fabled in the West. No richer or more distinguished connoisseurs were known. Their jewelry traditions condition today in some of the finest jewelry made. The Metropolitan Museum has a special section of the museum set up for selling just this type of luxurious jewelry.
The front of this pendant is inlaid with rubies and turquoise and rose-cut diamonds. It is finished with a tear dropped pearl with beautiful luster and tiny cluster of turquoise beads. The back of the pendant shows the rich tradition of engraving and enameling that was done to adorn the backs of Indian jewelry pieces.
The pendant is draped from a necklace of very fine quality rubellite gemstones combined with emerald rondelles , pearls, sapphires and 18kt. gold discs.
Rubellite is actually very very fine pink tourmaline. It vitalizes the feminine ray and gives a woman power and understanding.
